چکیده

Due to rapid industrial progress and urbanization, environmental pollution with toxic heavy metals has become one of the major concerns in today’s world (Kinare and Shingadia 2014). Environmental pollution due to chemicals and heavy metals is spreading throughout the world and is a problem that may have negative consequences on the hydrosphere. Metal contaminated aquifers pose serious threat to health and ecosystems. Copper, chromium, cadmium and nickel are known to be the most commonly used heavy metals and are the more widespread contaminants of the environment (Aksu 1998, Doenmez and Aksu 1999). Some heavy metals are essential in trace amount, but high levels of them may cause extreme toxicity to living organisms due to inhibition of metabolic reactions. These are considered to be more persistent and stable than organic International Journal of Current Microbiology and Applied Sciences ISSN: 2319-7706 Volume 6 Number 9 (2017) pp. 1403-1413 Journal homepage: http://www.ijcmas.com

Impact of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) farm effluents on water physico-chemical parameters of Ryjab River (Kermanshah province)

The impact of rainbow trout farm effluents on water physico-chemical parameters of Ryjab River was investigated. Five stations were considered at different parts of the river. Station 1 located at the headwaters of the river, station 2 after nearly 30 percent of fish farms, station 3 after 60 percent of fish farms, station 4 after the last fish farm and station 5 located one kilometer after the...

Chemical and Microbiological Quality of Effluents from Different On-Site Wastewater Treatment Systems across Finland and Sweden

Domestic wastewaters, which cannot be disposed through sewage networks, must be treated with different on-site treatment systems; these are usually commercial, small-scale treatment plants or built sand filters. These systems are usually maintained by the house’s inhabitants. This study was achieved by analysing the chemical and microbiological data of 717 effluents collected in Finland and Swe...

Phosphorus removal from piggery effluents of varying quality using lime and physico-chemical treatment methods.

The choice of management practices for the treatment of piggery effluent prior to its disposal to waterways or land is governed by the desire to simultaneously minimise the cost of treatment whilst minimising pollution of the environment. Laboratory experiments were conducted to compare the removal of total and total filterable phosphorus (P) (<0.45 microm) from ortho-phosphate solutions or pig...
